Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out at eric@goldenwestbees.com or (530)277-5004 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our honey is harvested by removing frames from the hive that are filled with honeycomb. The honeycomb is then extracted using a centrifuge to spin out the honey, which is then filtered and bottled.

The color and flavor of honey is dependent on the type of flower nectar that the bees collect. Generally, lighter honey comes from flowers with lighter nectar and darker honey comes from flowers with darker nectar or sap from trees.

Honey has an indefinite shelf life if stored properly in a cool, dry place. Placing honey in the freezer preserves the It may crystallize over time, but this is normal and can be easily remedied by gently heating the honey.
